Financial aid
Financial aid is available as part of the InVolc (Volcano in the Earth System Research) Graduate Track (GT). Grants are attributed based on academic excellence and the quality of the career objectives . These grants cover the first year of study in the Master's program and the first semester of the second year, up to the start of laboratory internships, i.e. a total of 16 months. A specific application file must be prepared, in addition to the application file for the relevant Master's degree.
Further informations on the GT InVolc are available here.

100% hiring within the 1st year, > 80% within 2 months.
Employment rate after 1 year: 100%, mostly on permanent contracts (60%), 100% on permanent contracts after 3 years.
Median gross starting salary €2529/month.
Introduction
The creation of the " Georesources, geohazards and geotechnics " master's degree program extends the training in applied geology at University Clermont Auvergne. The aim is to anchor this training in engineering (formalized by co-sponsorship with Polytech Clermont), and to make this training more attractive to the socio-economic world.
This master's degree is also perfectly adapted to professional integration at master's level, and to the practice of applied geology. The aim is to train geotechnicians with an initial training in earth sciences and a mastery of engineering sciences.
Job opportunities are to be found in France and abroad, in geotechnical design offices, engineering companies specializing in regional planning, public works companies, and technical structures of the State and local authorities. Pursuing in doctoral studies is also possible, particularly in applied research on geomaterials and their use in civil engineering and/or geotechnics.
This "Georesources, Geohazards, Geotechnics (3G)" degree complements and enriches the national offer, which is characterized by a very low number of courses in this field, and aims to open up internationally to "southern countries". The name "Geology of Development" course underlines the specificity of the program, which is aimed at training technical and scientific executives whose role will be to provide geological expertise for the design and implementation of development projects.
Geotechnical engineering is dealt with in a resolutely professional manner, involving the fundamental content of soil mechanics and rock mechanics, the use of technological tools to produce geological models, and the design of structures by ensuring the relevance of using a given method. Georesources and geomaterials will be examined at different scales, drawing in particular on the scientific resources available at the Laboratoires Magmas et Volcans and the Institut Pascal. Geological hazards will be addressed not only from a scientific perspective, but also from a regulatory and legislative standpoint, with particular emphasis put on gravity and hydraulic hazards. Teaching will also include communication, management, legislation and standardization in the fields of land-use planning, construction, geohazards and georesources. A large proportion of the courses are taught by professionals. The course concludes with a long internship.
