Registration for DU Passerelle

DU Passerelle registration is exclusively open to students in exile, including refugees, asylum-seekers, individuals under subsidiary protection, and new arrivals. Eligibility requires the presentation of a university integration project. The current tuition fee for an academic year is €3200. Enrolling in the DU entitles you to official student status.


1. Financial support for payment of registration fees

Financial assistance is available for individuals facing challenges in meeting tuition fees. Depending on your age and status, you can submit a scholarship application to CROUS or apply directly to the University for a tuition fee exemption.

CROUS support

Depending on your situation, you may be eligible for the following benefits: :

Conditions for CROUS Scholarship:
  • Refugees and beneficiaries of subsidiary protection: You must be under 28.
  • Asylum-seekers: You must be under 28, possess a (temporary) resident permit, have resided in France for a minimum of 2 years, AND be affiliated with a tax household (via your father, mother, legal guardian, or delegate of parental authority) for at least 2 years.

Please note: Even if exempted, you must obtain and present a certificate indicating that you are discharged from the payment obligation.

Tuition fee exemption by UCA
If you can't afford the tuition fees and/or are ineligible for a scholarship, you have the option to apply to our university for a tuition fee exemption.
Conditions for Exemption :

To qualify for exemption from payment, you must fulfill the following criteria:

  • You are in exile (refugees, asylum-seekers, temporary protection, subsidiary protection, new arrivals).
  • You are not eligible for a CROUS scholarship.
  • You are unable to afford the tuition fees independently.

How to Apply for an Exemption :

Application Period for the Second Semester of the 2023-2024 Academic Year : from November 27 to December 15, 2023.

Please Note: If granted exemption for the second semester, the candidate will be registered for DUEF instead of DU Passerelle.

Required Documents :

  • A letter explaining the nature of your situation for which you are requesting exemption and detailing your university project,
  • A copy of your ID card, passport, or resident permit (depending on your situation),
  • A copy of your high school or university diploma (with its certified translation into French),
  • A passport/identity photo,
  • For married students with children, a copy of your family record book,
  • A copy of the latest tax assessment from the tax household to which you are attached (parent, legal guardian…) OR, if you are making your own tax return, your latest tax assessment (or that of your spouse) and a copy of the employment contract under which you are salaried,
  • Proof of partial funding for continuous education outside the professional training contract, if applicable,
  • For refugees and asylum-seekers, proof of status or ongoing procedure,
  • A certificate attesting that you are not granted a scholarship from CROUS or any other organization,
  • For individuals registered with Pôle Emploi, a certificate from them refusing to finance continuous education, if applicable,
  • Any other document you may find useful to submit to the commission to support your request for exemption.

We will then review your request. If it is complete, we will proceed with the first administrative screening. An invitation to a mandatory French language test and an interview with the teaching staff will follow. Subsequently, your file will be forwarded to the university's exemption committee, which will decide whether or not to grant you exemption.

Important Dates:

  • French language test and interview: January 8, 2024.
  • Exemption committee meeting: January 25, 2024.
You or another organisation pay the tuition fees

If you prefer to cover your tuition fees independently or have financial support from an external organization or one within the University (such as Pôle Emploi, local mission, research laboratory, etc.), you may be eligible for continuous education, depending on your situation. 2. Administrative Registration

Upon the successful payment of your tuition fees and acceptance of your scholarship application or exemption request, you are required to complete the administrative registration for the DU Passerelle.
Please Note: The registration for the DU Passerelle is an annual process, taking place exclusively between May and September. Registrations are not accepted during the academic year.

Upon the exemption committee's decision, you will receive an email notification from us.
Scholarship Student :
  • DU Passerelle registration form (download here),
  • Scholarship notice,
  • CVEC certificate,
  • Copy of a valid third-party (liability) insurance certificate (if opted for during the academic year),

Projet PASREL Registration

Registrations for Projet PASREL are exclusively open to individuals in exile (refugees, asylum-seekers, subsidiary protection, temporary protection, new arrivals) at levels A1 and A2. To enroll in this program, a university integration project must be presented.

Registration is free, but it does not confer student status, and the program does not lead to the attainment of a university diploma. Upon completion, participants will undergo a DELF certification examination at either the A1 or A2 level.
Application Period: from November 27 to December 15, 2023.

  • Proof of status (asylum-seeker, political refugee, subsidiary protection),
  • An identity/passport photo,
  • Copy of your high school diploma (with certified translation into French),
  • Copy of your last university diploma obtained (with certified translation into French), if applicable,

We will review your file, and if complete, proceed with the initial administrative selection. An invitation for a mandatory French level test followed by an interview with the teaching staff will be sent.
